Joanne K. (Daliege) Ahmad

March 20, 1961 — April 19, 2023

Joanne Kathleen Ahmad, age 62, passed away while surrounded by family on 4/19/2023. Cherished wife of the late Daud Ahmad; Beloved Mother of NoraLee (Mark) Dudash, Jenan Ahmad, Seana Ahmad, adopted daughter Maysoon Tabali (Usama Edris), honorary children Michael Romano and Carmella Tirrito (James Grant); Treasured Grandmother to Alina and Aya Edris, Mia Romano, Zoey Tirrito, Zachary, Elliot and Ember Tirrito-Grant; Adored Daughter of the late John and Dorothy Daliege; Dear sister of Jack (Linda) Daliege, the late Terrence (Sandra) Daliege, the late Thomas Daliege, and Hisham (Ola) Saleh; Darling Aunt to Courtenay (Daniel) VanderMeulen and loved by many nieces, nephews, and extended family both in the US and overseas.

Joanne was a devoted mother and while she only gave birth to 3 girls, throughout the years countless children called her “Mom”. Her greatest joy and life’s purpose were motherhood, and she always said she would’ve loved to have had more children if she’d been able.

Joanne was a dedicated partner and wife. Hers was a beautiful love story that fortunately began very young, resulting in 38 years of marriage before David’s passing in 2019. She was reunited with him on the day before their 42nd wedding anniversary, clearly unwilling to spend one more anniversary apart.

Joanne was a caretaker by nature, regularly taking someone new under her wing. Her generosity knew no bounds; if there was someone in need, she’d do anything in her power to help. Joanne was always cheerful and optimistic no matter how sick she was or how much pain she suffered. She had a gift for seeing the best in the people and the world around her, and a childlike enthusiasm for even the simplest joys in life.

Joanne was an avid animal lover, and through the years she nurtured various horses, dogs, cats (so many cats!) fish, birds, hamsters, and bunnies. Her compassion and kindness will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing her, and she will live on in the hearts and memories of her loved ones forever.

Joanne’s wishes were for family and friends to celebrate her life rather than mourn her death. As such, the family will host a celebration of life in lieu of traditional arrangements in the coming months.
