Donald C. Johnson

July 20, 1955 — January 22, 2022

Donald C. Johnson, of Crestwood, IL, died on January 22, 2022 he was 66 years old.  Father, brother, friend and the local Cheesehead.  Don was born on July 20, 1955 to Jacqueline Johnson and raised with his five siblings (Diane, Matt, Patti, Sandy and Lynn).

Don graduated from Dwight D. Eisenhower High School in 1973.  He enlisted in the Army in February of 1974 and served six years where he was a Military Policeman and Detective.

Don was the father to five kids; Kimberly (Kankakee) married to Tom, Jenny “Fred” (Minooka), Tracy (Minooka), Amy (Franklin, TN) married to Doug and Jeff “buddy” in Sycamore married to Katie. Don had 12 grand kids; Payton, Jacob, Mason, Kenzie, Tom, Grace, Hudson, Jameson, Jackson, Cillian, Finley Harper, Maddox.  All of whom he loved dearly. He was also loved by many nieces and nephews.  Don was preceded in death by his mother Jacqueline Johnson in 2019.

While you may know him as a stubborn man, he was a great one.  Don loved watching old movies he loved old westerns with John Wayne, listening to music from the 60’s and 70s like CCR.  He was also a big Green Bay Packers fan.  You could usually catch him watching the game, until it would go bad then he would shut it off.  He loved the Chicago Cubs and was so happy when they won the World Series in 2016.  With Don it was the little things that mattered; family, good friends, good music and sitting on the porch drinking coffee.  He will be missed by so many as he was loved by all.  In the words of the great Vince Lombardi, “We didn’t lose the game, we just ran out of time.”

Per Don’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

He will be laid to rest and receive full military honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois
