It has come to pass that Nancy Ethel Bartlett has died peacefully in her home in Shorewood Illinois, at 4:51 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. Nancy was 93 years of age having been born in Somers Point, New Jersey on July 1, 1932 to Bill and Betty Martin, now deceased. Preceded in death by her older brother, George Martin and younger brother, William Martin.
Nancy is survived by her children, Alan, Barbara Giacomino, Daniel and Scott; grandsons, Jason (Shanin), Jeremy Giacomino (Jules) and Nathan; granddaughter, Nina (Madison); great-granddaughters, Alexis Cichy (Alex), Madilyn and Lillian; nephews, Stanly and Liberty (Bert) Martin. Her passing will be mourned by loving cousins, Carol and Phil Ireland, their children and grandchildren.
Nancy spent her first 14 years in Linwood, New Jersey along the south Jersey shore. She relocated to Forest Heights in the Washington D.C. area with her family in 1947. Following her marriage to Annapolis Naval Academy graduate Donald Alan Bartlett she lived in Norfolk Virginia, Rochester New York, and finally in Mt. Prospect and Shorewood, Illinois.
Nancy loved the beach, the ocean, and the Great Lakes. She enjoyed sailing her own Catalina boat and taking the helm of friend’s vessels on Lake Michigan.
Nancy returned to New Jersey in 1997 to share her Mother’s final years in the family home on Shore Road in Linwood that her great-grandmother built.
Retirement found Nancy back in Illinois to enjoy her relations, volunteering, playing bridge, kayaking, and book club readings. She lived a long, adventurous and satisfying life.
Nancy will be laid to rest in Old Zion Cemetery in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, alongside her parents and siblings.
