Karen Marie Grzybek

Karen Marie Grzybek (Sherwonit), 77, passed away at home surrounded by family on July 2, 2025, in Joliet, IL. Born on July 21, 1947 in Trumbull CT, Karen was a beacon of warmth, generosity, and love throughout her life.

Karen is survived by her two brothers William and David Sherwonit, her daughters Amy Grzybek (Mike Frederiksen) and Jill O'Brien (Sean O'Brien), and son, Eric Grzybek. She was a cherished grandmother to Michael (Michelle), Jeremy, Nicholas (Victoria), Jaleb, Kalvin, Aevan, and Soleil, and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of a great-grandson in September. Karen was preceded in death by her beloved grandson Henry Bilus and her parents, Victoria and Edward Sherwonit.

A lover of nature, Karen enjoyed observing the serene beauty of flowers, birds, and butterflies from her window. She spent many joyful hours reading novels by her favorite author, Stephen King, and watching her favorite TV shows with her grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on July 20, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, located at 10104 Immanuel Rd, Yorkville, IL.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation in Karen's memory, honoring her generous spirit.
