John Lee Bouie Sr.

John was born June 4, 1953 to Rosalie and Roger Bouie in Rolling Fork Mississippi. After relocating with his family to Joliet Illinois, he attended Joliet public schools. John attended Midstate College in Peoria, Illinois. John’s favorite memory was when his mother sent him on his high school senior trip to Italy. John was employed by GAF And Borg–Warner.

John was preceded in death by both of his parents; two brothers, Nick and Carl; one granddaughter, Consuela; and his best buddies, Willie Moore and Louis Thompson.

In 1978 John married Cynthia Shaw, and to this union three children were born. John II, Jontue and Yvette. In 1986 John married Shirley Brooks. John spent the last 29 years with the love of his life “Dawn,” together they raised their children, grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

John is survived by his children, Cortney Bonner, John II, Jontue and Yvette; bonus children, Deshawna, Keisha, Terrell, Courtney, Aleisha and Kaylyn; his loving, Dawn; siblings, Gloster (Annie), Margie, Hazel (Anthony), Nicole (Ursula), and Catina (Arlen); special son and daughter-in-law, Christopher And Catina; grandchildren, Raisa, Aya, Gabriele, Sheree, Jaques, Jacey, Samantha, Savannah, Mikalya, Ke‘adrian, Trey, JJ, Karmarlee, Cinciere, Courtney, Dominique, and Cameron; great-grandchildren, JJ and Ky‘siani; special nieces and nephews, Charita (Leon), Latesha, Trinity, De‘Markus, Frederick, Marcellous, Nay, Jelise, Marwin, Mandy and Tomeca (Michael); best friends and brothers, Kirk Payton and Greg Thompson; numerous cousins and friends, including special cousin, Johnny B and Bernice.

John loved traveling, especially to Las Vegas and his hometown Rolling Fork, Mississippi. He also enjoyed playing the horses.

John’s favorite saying was “Johnlee GONNA live this life!” and he did just that!

Upon John’s request, cremation rites have been accorded through Genuine Care Cremation.
