Jimmy Glenn Anglin

July 7, 1943 — August 15, 2024

Jimmy, 81 years old of Shorewood, IL died on August 15, 2024.

Jimmy was born in Hoxie, AR in 1943 to Delmer (William) and Francis Anglin, the 5th child of 8. Jimmy served in the Army from 1962 through 1965, spending the majority of his service in Germany. While serving, Jimmy began corresponding with Shirley Mitchell and after his discharge they were married on March 5, 1966. Jimmy spent 28 years on the Skokie Police force, spending most of his years patrolling in the department's paddy wagon. Jimmy and Shirley had two daughters, Nancy and Kerri.

Jimmy was preceded in death by both of his parents, siblings Maggie, Wanda and Joe and is survived by his wife of 58 years Shirley, daughters Nancy (Mark) and Kerri (Chip), grandsons Joshua and Jacob (Tessa) and his siblings Mary, Ray (Edna), Debbie (Tom) and Anna Mae, and numerous nephews and nieces. Jimmy was excited to learn shortly before his death that he was going to become a great-grandpa.

Jimmy will always be remembered for his love of old westerns, watching all of the Judge shows and watching The Wheel every night with his lovely bride. Although he spent much of 2024 either in the hospital or in a skilled nursing center, Jimmy always kept his sense of humor and determined spirit. He will be sorely missed and his memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

Jimmy will be laid to rest at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with military funeral honors on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the National Kidney Foundation or American Heart Association would be appreciated.
