James George Ismiel

James George Ismiel, age 68, of Joliet, Illinois died peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2026. Born in Chicago, son of the late George and Hannah Ismiel. He was raised in Ravenswood Manor and later moved to Morton Grove. He graduated from Lane Tech High School.

James spent many years working for Grossinger Motors. A great Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan he enjoyed season tickets and tailgate parties with his friends. He also made several trips to watch the Indianapolis 500 and trips across the country. He was a gifted musician, singer and guitarist in a band “The Slate Band” which played all around Chicago. Jim had many good friends for many years who loved and miss him dearly.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Ann; brother-in-law, Tim; niece, Clara; and a brother Tim.
