It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Colonel Jacob Thomas Williams II, retired on July 22, 2024 at the age of 84. A beloved father, brother, mentor, husband, and friend, Jay’s life was a testament to dedication, service, and passion for knowledge.

Born on July 11, 1940 Jay committed his early years to serving his country, in the United States Army, where he rose through the ranks to become a respected Colonel. His military career was marked by bravery, leadership, and unwavering dedication.

Jay pursued his passion for education, earning four masters degrees and a PhD in psychology. After retiring from the army, he became a psychology professor. Through his teachings, he inspired countless students and colleagues. Sharing his wisdom and encouraging others to find their paths in life. His commitment to education extended beyond; he was known for his nurturing mentorship, and his genuine interest in the success of those around him.

Jay traveled the world, visiting 48 states and many countries. His stories of adventure and experiences were captivating, reflecting his zest for life and appreciation for the beauty in each moment.

Most importantly, Jay was a man who touched the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. His kindness, humor, and genuine spirit left an indelible mark on all who crossed his path. He taught us the value of connection, resilience, and living life to the fullest

Jay is survived by his loving wife, Carmen Costianu Williams; children, Mike (Amanda) Costianu and Bogden (Danielle) Costianu; grandchildren, Zoe Costianu and Christen Costianu; sister, Loretta Frankin; and brother, L.G Williams; as well as many close friends who will miss him dearly.

A celebration of Jay’s life will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. Full military honors will be rendered. Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded.
