Elaine M. Kane

Elaine M. Kane (nee Schmednecht)

Age 92 of Joliet, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, February 23, 2024.

Born and raised in Joliet, Elaine worked at the Joliet Arsenal for a number of years until she met and married Mr. Frank Kane. Together they made a home and raised their family. After her children had grown, she then worked in the cafeteria at Dirksen Junior High School until retiring. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents: Fred and Emma Schmednect; husband: Frank Kane who passed away in 2019; children: Katherine, Donald and Janet and her brother: Fred Schmednecht.

Elaine is survived by one granddaughter, two great-grandsons and two nieces.

Per Elaine’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and she will be laid to rest with her husband at St. John’s Cemetery in Cullom, Illinois at a later date.
