Donald V. Pashuta

Donald Vincent Pashuta, age 85, of Shorewood, Il passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 29, 2023 with his loving family by his side.

Born in Beaver Falls, PA to the late Vincent and Elizabeth Pashuta. He was the oldest of eight and his brother and sisters who said he was the “Best Big Brother” ever.

Don graduated from Beaver Falls High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After his service in the Marine Corps he became a proud member of the IBEW and worked out of local 176 for 32 years. Don was a member of the Joliet Elks Lodge 296 for 41 years.

In retirement he enjoyed traveling to Sitka and Juneau, Alaska; Leon and San Miguel, Mexico; Las Vegas; and road trips to Pennsylvania and Albany, New York. Don was a mister-fix-it around the house and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone that needed help. He spent time on the internet reading the International News and investment letters. One of his greatest pleasures was riding his Honda 750 motorcycle.

Don was a loving husband, father, grandpa and brother; a good neighbor; and a great friend who will be dearly missed.

Preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Elizabeth Pashuta; brother, David; sister-in-law, Phyllis Pashuta; niece, Tammy Pashuta; nephew, Casey Norris; in-laws, Chester and Marie Przybyla; brother-in-law, Chester Przybyla; and longtime friends, Elmer Tress, Raymond Aultz, Earl Fromm and Burdette Reider.

Survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Ruth; sons, Vincent and Douglas; granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Natasha; brother, Thomas; sisters, Sr. Dorothy Pashuta CSJ, Mary Ann (Van) VanHorssen, Alice Pashuta, Carol Ann (Andrew) Pahountis, Marian (Andrew) Norris; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Evolga; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of Donald’s life will be held at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
