Brett N. Vanderhyden, 41, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
Brett was a devoted father, son, brother, uncle, and loyal friend whose larger-than-life personality and generous spirit touched everyone who knew him. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his son, Jax, and making memories with his family and friends.
Brett had a passion for sports, especially baseball. During his baseball career, he proudly played catcher, a position that perfectly matched his toughness, leadership, and love for the game. He was an avid fantasy football fan and could often be found talking sports.
Outside of sports, Brett loved fishing, grilling, cooking for family and friends, and relaxing with a cold beer. He treasured the simple moments most — sitting around a grill, sharing laughs during card games, and enjoying the company of those closest to him. Known affectionately by many friends as “Twink,” Brett will be remembered for his humor, loyalty, and ability to bring people together.
He was preceded in death by his brother and best friend, Erich Frederick ; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his beloved four-legged companion, Kilo.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved son, Jax Vanderhyden; his loving parents, Randel R. and Diana L. (nee Zeiter) Vanderhyden; his sister, Sheina (Fred Valentino) Frederick; the mother of his child, Jennifer Stephens; his nephew, Trey Frederick; his best friend, James Harrison; along with many other relatives and dear friends.
Brett’s memory will be celebrated at a later date.
